Dumisani Dlamini “Proud” to be Doja Cat’s Father
While Mzansi actor Dumisani Dlamini has a great many accomplishments, he still can’t escape questions about his celebrity daughter, American-born popstar Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, who is more popularly known as Doja Cat.
While promoting his leading role on Showmax’s new series “Mkhonto” – which premiers today, Friday, 26 May – the 59-year-old star spoke with several publications. “The story is so deep and spiritual and I liked how it’s attached to Zulu history. I want people to remember that indlovu iyabulawa intuthwane (an elephant can be killed by an ant),” he said.
When asked about his musician daughter, Dlamini added: “I’m so proud of her for what she has achieved. I’m not surprised, because it’s in the blood. In fact, all my kids are very talented. I think South Africa as a whole should be proud of such a great talent coming from us.”
A veteran in the South African film scene, Dlamini has appeared as several noteworthy characters on the series screen, including Dlakadla in “The Wife”, Chester in “Yizo Yizo”, Crocodile in “Sarafina!”, Mbodla in “Isibaya”, and Celemba in “eHostela”.
In his latest role, the actor portrays Chief Siviko ka Vaka, the villainous ruler of the fictional, mystical kingdom of Eziqwaqweni.
